YS Men's Soccer Clutch Win

On Thursday Oct. 18th the Yellow Springs High School men's soccer team recorded a win over Madison High School in the post season tournament.

Behind 0-1 for much of the game the Bulldogs converted a free kick into a header goal by Roland Newsome to tie the score with only 8 minutes left.  Just 3 minutes later Madison had a great chance to score in front of the box but Pedro Cussioli blocked the shot and sent it away upfield in one move.  With only 2 minutes remaining Ian Chick started off a drive for a score with some solid ball control under pressure.  He fed the ball to Jared Scarfpin at the edge of the field and Jared sent a pass which crossed the goal area in the air. Nathan Miller put the ball in the net for a goal with Jared credited with the assist.  Madison could not recover in the time left and the Bulldogs won 2-1.

YSHS Men's Soccer Team Over Xenia Christian 6-2

On Sept. 27th the YSHS men's soccer team was leading 3-1 at half time and added three header goals (Roland Newsome, Jared Scarfpin and Ian Chick) in the second half to make the final 6-2.

The Bulldog men are first in their conference and Ian Chick is #1 on offense for the conference with Jared Scarfpin close behind.  Goalie Eric Lawhorn is a huge help to his team with the most saves in the conference.  Pedro Cussioli is a solid player in the midfield.  With 21 players on the roster first year head coach Ben Van Ausdal has lots of talent to field.
